![]() ![]() The issues people want to deal with bring a panoply of human woe and weal to a therapists ears.
"How can I get my daughter to move out of the house?" he asks. "How old is your daughter?" the therapist inquires. "Sixty-three," replies the old gentleman. "I miss my husband desperately," says a tenant in the local prison. "Does he ever come to visit?" the therapist asks. "No" (deadpan response). Then a teary admission, "I shot [killed] him." Concept is a program where we talk about life's complexities and search for ways to stay healthy in the midst of unexpected challenges and embarrassing goofs. Putting some teeth into boundaries, exploring strategies for improving relationships, setting priorities, rising above what cant be changed, and developing a positive plan for the future are tactics available to us. These are subjects that have been researched. They are worth talking about. Join us at Concept to pursue a look at significant life issues. ![]() ![]() Born in Oshawa, Ontario, Canada, where his parents were on the Kingsway College faculty, William Loveless called myriad places home during his youth: Florida, Indiana, Illinois, California, Colorado, Washington.
His avid birdwatching and identification of over 100 bird nests belonging to 35 species of birds in the trees of Chicago brought an honorary membership in the Audubon Society to the 12-year-old boy. During a varied career as clergyman and college president, he completed a doctorate (University of Maryland) and became a licensed marriage and family counselor. Dr. Loveless drew on strengths gained as a demon in the racquetball court, in volleyball, and in acrobatics when co-leading a six-week expedition on Mt. Ararat in the 60s. In another arena, friends and family often find him in the kitchen, creating new ways to eat well and stay well. He has enthusiastic ways of promoting recipes and other health-related topics. A public speaker in many venues for over 50 years, Dr. Loveless currently teaches adjunct courses in sociology and marriage and the family, quite recently (October 2009) was lecturing at Friendensau University in Germany, and maintains a marriage and family practice on his day off from an appointment at Loma Linda University School of Dentistry. He's likely to speak tenderly when he refers to his family memberswife Edna Maye, daughters Marilynn Howard and Marti Olson, granddaughter Laura Olson. They have enriched his life and his insights in numerous ways, he says. William Loveless, PhD |

The kitchen is not only the center of family but more importantly it is the place where the wisdom of women has flourished and been passed down through the millenniums from one generation to the next. Since the beginning of time, the conversation in the kitchen has never ceased. You simply joined in on the day of your birth and will leave the conversation, richer for having shared of yourself, on the day you move on to the next place in our journey.
